Things to Consider before Growing Cannabis Indoors
There are several things that you need to take into consideration before trying to grow cannabis indoors and although some of them are basic points they are all fundamental and can be the difference between a successful harvest and a bad one (or worse).
Have you genuinely got the time to take care of your plants properly?
It is going to take over 3 months to produce a good product usually and there will, in most cases (unless choosing auto flowering seeds) be different watering and feeding schedules.
Are you going to be taking long holidays and if so do you have close people you trust to take care proper of your plants whilst you are away?
All too familiar a tale we hear where friends have not watered and it has led to the death of a whole harvest and two months or so hard work.
How secure is your grow area?
Cannabis is just as attractive as your dvd player or wide screen tv to thieves, there have even been instances where these thieves have also been thought of as friends previously. Keep it a bloody secret and well hidden!
Can you hide the smell when the plants start to flower?
I have a useless sense of smell sometimes, hay-fever sufferer and working around plants all day, ha, not good sometimes. A warning taken when I had a friend point out a sickly sweet smell. Use proper odour control, either in gel form or a carbon filter!
Are you prepared to pay money on lights and other grow items?
Be realistic, this is an addictive pastime and like most hobbies and passions it can cost money; soil, fertilisers, additives, gadgets galore, many people always want the latest and greatest. Be sensible, plan ahead, talk to someone that has experience.
Are you prepared to pay the costs of a higher electricity bill?
Okay, can be included in the above list but is often overlooked and over a 3month or so can be the most expensive part of the whole grow! If you are in a warm climate like us then you may be using air-con, this also is going to put major increases on your electricty.
Are people going to see your grow room?
Really, no matter how tempting it is to show off your accumulating growing skills and perfect harvests it is the single biggest fuck up of growers to tell people. 90% of all convictions come from someone's mouth, apart from one trusted person to help out in emergencies or holidays etc tell no one, not even your mother!
If you are hesitant on any of these points then we suggest that you resolve those issues before you buy cannabis seeds and move on or consider another interest altogether.
