The Ultimate Cannabis Cookbook: Spanish Recipes with a Twist

Spain is a country with a rich and diverse culinary heritage, influenced by its geography, history, and culture. From the fresh seafood of the coast to the hearty stews of the interior, Spanish cuisine offers something for everyone. But did you know that you can also enjoy some of these delicious dishes with a cannabis twist? Naturally , with cannabis being part of my natural diet Ive used every recipe there is. I will continue to expand this section as ‘medicle use‘ is certainly on the rise.

Traditional Spanish Food with Cannabis

Cannabis is widely used in Spain, both for recreational and medicinal purposes. In fact, Spain has one of the largest cannabis social clubs in Europe, where members can grow and consume cannabis in a safe and regulated environment. Cannabis can also be used as an ingredient in cooking, adding flavor, aroma, and therapeutic benefits to your food.

However, cooking with cannabis is not as simple as sprinkling some herb on your paella. You need to follow some basic steps to ensure that your cannabis-infused food is tasty, potent, and safe. Here are some tips to get you started:

  • Decarboxylate your cannabis. This means heating it at a low temperature (around 110°C) for about 30 minutes to activate the THC and CBD, the main cannabinoids that produce the psychoactive and medicinal effects of cannabis. You can use an oven, a microwave, or a special device for this process.
  • Infuse your cannabis. This means extracting the cannabinoids into a fat-based substance, such as butter, oil, milk, or cream. You can do this by simmering your decarboxylated cannabis with your chosen fat for about an hour, stirring occasionally and making sure not to burn it. Then strain the mixture through a cheesecloth or a fine mesh sieve and store it in an airtight container in the fridge or freezer.
  • Dose your cannabis. This means calculating how much cannabis-infused fat you need to use in your recipe to achieve the desired effect. This depends on several factors, such as the potency of your cannabis, your tolerance level, and your personal preference. A general rule of thumb is to start low and go slow: use about 5 mg of THC per serving for beginners, 10 mg for intermediate users, and 15 mg or more for experienced users. You can use online calculators or apps to help you with this step.
  • Cook your cannabis. This means following your recipe as usual, but substituting some or all of the regular fat with your cannabis-infused fat. Be careful not to overheat your cannabis-infused food, as this can degrade the cannabinoids and reduce their effects. Also, be mindful of the smell and taste of cannabis in your food: you can mask it with strong spices, herbs, or sauces, or embrace it as part of the flavor profile.

Now that you know the basics of cooking with cannabis, you are ready to try some of these amazing Spanish recipes with a twist. Whether you are looking for a snack, a main course, or a dessert, we have something for you. Buen provecho!
